New Zealand Hazy IPA Riwaka + Motueka

Vavřík’s birthday called for a special brew. After a year, we followed up his collaboration with Sibeeria to create a hoppy nectar in the form of a New Zealand Hazy IPA, perfect for one of the biggest connoisseurs of the Czech craft scene. For this beer, we teamed up with Freestyle Hops growers from New Zealand to secure freshly harvested Riwaka and Motueka hops from the 2024 crop.

Vavřík má narozeniny a my jsme mu uvařili narozeninové pivo.

Can 0.5l. Hazy, deep gold colored. AROMA- juicy and metal, citrusy, tropical and exotic fruit, a bit sulfury. FLAVOR- dry, lightly bitter, juicy, fruity, oniony. Medium bodied. Not bad, not great.

Tap at NaPalmě. So, what's this one about? Vratislav Stříbrný, better known as Vavřík Ag, is a legend of the Czech beer scene, particularly the Prague one - a tireless craft beer cheerleader, one of the ubiquitous friendly faces of Prague's beer events. Vavřík celebrated his 60th birthday last year with Kopa Stříbrných, brewed at Sibeeria. His surname means Silver, and a kopa was a measure for 60 Prague silver groš coins, and he turned 60, so... you get it. This year, he collaborated with NOZIB to release, ofc, Kopa+1. Last year's version was quite nice, so let's look at this year's! Murky orange-golden body, off-white head. Riwaka dominates the aroma - spicy and herbal, some berries as well. Lean, dry taste, lovely citric and floral hoppy notes, with some NZ herbal notes. Actually quite nice! The Riwaka isn't too offensive here. Will try again most likely!
