8/8/2025. Cask at GBBF 2025. Last beer at GBBF. Decent pour. Aroma is ashy, chocolate, malty, roasted, hoppy. Nice roasted notes. Drying. Decent BIPA. Liked this.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2017, [ Great British Beer Festival 2017 ], London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX.[ As XT Squid Ink ].Clear dark brown colour with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, roasted, moderate hoppy, citrus, fruity hops. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark malt, citrus, roasted, wood, fruity hops, medium dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20170808] 7-3-7-3-15

Cask at Half Moon, Darlington. Black colour with reddish tinge, beige foam head and zesty citrus hop aroma. Taste is roasted, ash, dark malts, coffee & chocolate hints then juicy fruity citrus hop and some earthy bitterness. Smoothish mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roast bitter finish. Very drinkable Black IPA.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Very dark with a frothy-bubbly off-white head. Has clean dark malts with a noticeable roasted edge. Its aroma is similar.

Cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Not black, but considerably dark brown with a tan head. Herbal/cress notes in the aroma with a bit of roast malt, liquorice and spruce. Bitter taste from the outset, but it sweetens slightly for a more balanced finish. Some medicinal astringency on the aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Odd, but it works.
