Belgian style Quadrupel brewed with speciality malts to give a dark brown colour with sweet caramel notes. Brewed with Abbaye yeast to give those typical fruit and spice notes.
This beer is the first trio of The Fates (Belgian Series).

A 440 ml can brought on a recent Norway trip by our British friends. Very nice of them to transport this beer, I would never see it otherwise. We sampled it in the ship's bar area as we did the beers I brought. Poured almost entirely black with a strong head of dark tan foam. It smelled of raisins, grain, plums and malt. The drink delivered black plums, chocolate, toasted malts, some berries, dark bread, a spot of hops and caramel. Rather nice.

CBJ Bottleshare. Thanks to Fergus. Clear amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Toffee caramel malts, not sweet. Mild ripe fruits. Mild esters. Mild bitterness. Light finish. Tidy.

Can. Color: Very dark brown, almost black. Light brown head. A bit too dark for a Belgian Quadrupel. Aroma: Roasted malt, dark dried fruit, hints of licorice. Again a bit too roasted for a Quad, but we'll deal with it. Taste: Earthy, roasted and dark malt, some dark dried fruit, licorice and dark chocolate. Over medium body, just below average carbonation. Moderate to over moderate sweet and bitter. Again not really like a Belgian Quad, but a nice attempt to brew another style anyway.

Can big thanks to my bro. It pours darkest brown to black with a medium fluffy khaki head. The aroma is big, bright and fruity, loads of jammy vibes, plum pie, figgy pudding, raisin, sultana, prune, toasted fruit cake, purple chewits, gingerbread, warming spice, touch of vanilla and some molasses. The taste is dry upfront and bitter - sweet, punchy and robust, big slap of alcohol warmth, dark roasted malt, charred oak, burnt toast, depth of spice, dried fruits, toasted fruit cake, plum, fig, umami, liquorice and earthiness with a dry, charred oak and spice finish . Fulsome body wash and moderate, supporting carbonation. A big a punchy and toothy quad. Satisfying.
