Hidalgo is our interpretation of a British Best Bitter. We brew Hidalgo with a classic simple infusion mash using Marris Otter & Crystal malts. It is hopped with Challenger & East Kent Goldings during the boil. After an open fermentation it rests in our cellars for several weeks prior to packaging.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to becher glass.
Appearance: dark copper close to brown color with a two finger white foamy head which slid off nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: honey, biscuits, herbal tea, earthy sweetness; woody sweetness; floral, clean caramel/toffee malts, some dried grassy scents
Flavor: meshes the previously noted aromas to a fine sweet malty biscuity quality; finishes somewhat herbal tea-ish, earthy and caramel toned
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; very smooth along the tongue, and a little bit of dryness
Overall: I say a nicely done English Bitter I would return to and most likely have with some fish n' chips!

16 ounce can. Hazy, amber orange color. Large frothy beige head. Sweet malt aroma hints at toffee. Zesty, toasted malt flavor upfront. Lightly sweet, with notes of caramel and brewed iced tea. A bit thin for the style.
