Tap at Takanoya. Black and thick and muddy. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts. Rich and sweet, nice roast, dark chocolate and vanilla, bourbon some coffee and wood. Bit boozy but not so much. Heavy, rich, a sipper.

Tap at Takanoya in Kyoto. Alternating Current A deep inky thick black with red highlights. The aroma is soy, black licorice, barrel oakiness, very savoury, light vanilla and no discernible coffee though I did pick up on chocolate, a solid and fairly balanced beer for 15.1/% but this is definitely a sipper to share with someone. Best when chilled and probably even better with a few more years on it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Cap Tap. Pours black with a transient tan head. Aroma is chocolate with some vanilla, and maybe coffee, and definitely smooth dark malt. Full bodied. A little heat is present. There’s a strong dose of vanilla, chocolate, and probably coffee. The rest is dark treacle. Killer stuff. Like super chocolate cake for impact.

Tap @Hair Of The Dog, Phrom Phong, BKK. Black, light beige head. Bourbon, wood vanilla aroma. Flavour has bourbon, dark choc, caramel and vanilla. Boozy warmth. Quite warm actually. Tough and barely balanced with lasting boozy bite.
