26/7/2025. Can bought at the Coop, opposite Trent Bridge. Close to black with a small creamy beige head. Good pour. Ashy, coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, raisins. Moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, quite smooth, average carbonation. Bitter finish.

I got a free packet of crisps with this beer, as part of an opening day gift from the new Cooperative Supermarket opening up under some new build flats in Salford Quays after my purchase. The crisps disappeared a couple of months ago, i'm making this beer disappear right now. Black, it's a pretty standard stout with its strength making a bit of an influence in taste.

440ml can. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roast malts, dark chocolate. Taste is predominantly roasty, some dark chocolate and a little caramel, assertive bitterness, light ashy note, hints of liquorice and molasses. Body is light-medium. It's ok, pleasant enough. I know it's mainly for the charity drive but can't help but feel it's a bit cheap and bog standard for Northern Monk. Appeals to the masses I guess.
