We’ve gone a bit Masterchef here, with a deconstructed classic British dessert… Trifle.

A proper trifle is layer upon layer of jammy raspberries and strawberries with lashings of whipped cream, thick custard and squidgy sponge.
Here’s our take on it in beer form; a Trifle Ale jam-packed with fruity flavours of those red berries, cream, custard and sponge in a bright pink-ish/red beer.

For something so decadent, we called in Amundsen; one of the undoubted GOATs of dessert-based beers, and our close friends at Overtone who know a thing or two about exciting pales. And it's vegan friendly! Graphic Designer Jamie Nash has provided the artwork for the label in his own slick eye-catching style

Keg @ Northern Monk Refectory, Manchester. Hazy pink with a head. Light sugary berry notes do provide for an easy trifle aroma and taste, which lingers. The pink part, not the custard or cream sections of the dessert.

440ml can. Hazy dark reddy pink, off-white head. Aroma of berry sponge cake, lots of custard. Taste is fruity in a hoppy way but also with the actual raspberries and strawberries, the sweet custard so prominent in the aroma is very muted now, and the finish tangy and even a little bitter. Nowhere near as sweet as I expected. Probably the best of their fruited pales.
