We’re entering darker months and the only brightness you might find is in your glass, or the waning embers of your fire. Our fourth release with Billelis is Waning Embers. A 7.0% DDH IPA.
As we prepare for autumn, with its chill in the air, we wanted Waning Embers to feel comforting, cosy, like a warming embrace against the colder nights. Cashmere hops provide a somewhat woody and almost tea-like aroma on the nose and when combined with a thick, heavy body, it acts pillowy and warming.
We also used some Idaho 7 to add to the cosy-feel, with a little sweet fruitiness and a herbal touch to really help you step out from summer and into the long dark autumnal days ahead… Brewed with Colorado (and the French Alps)’s Outer Range Brewing.

440ml can. Cloudy, orange, dark golden colour with average to huge, frothy, osteoporosing, moderately lacing, white head. Citrusy fruity and piney, hoppy aroma, sweet-ish, wheaty and oaty malty background, notes of mandarine, orange, melon, a touch of peach and orange peel. Taste is sweet-ish, wheaty, oaty and pale malty, mildly bitter, piney and (citrusy) fruity hoppy, notes of melon, orange, mandarine, some orange peel, peach. Oily, creamy texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy palate, medium, dense, mildly prickly carbonation. Fairly fruity and hoppy, nice creamy mouthfeel - decent.

Pint at cyclic beer farm Barcelona. Pours a rather dark hazy yellow, nice head. Aroma is sweet, malty, hoppy and rich. Medium body. Soft and rich malt flavour, sweet and slightly caramelly. Balanced presentation with the hops, which provide a lot of herbal-earthy notes, with plenty of pine. Finish is resiny, bittersweet hops. Lovely and comforting indeed.
