Project Barista combines two of our greatest passions, beer and coffee, and plays with the relationship between them. Four unique beers, four kinds of coffee used in different ways, in collaboration with four incredible independent roasters. Building on Mucha Mocha (no mean feat), this imperial stout is injected with coffee at every possible step of the process, swirling through rich, smooth cocoa.

12/11/2024. Can shared by Colin, cheers. Pours black with a small tan coloured head. Aroma is dark chocolate, dark malts, coffee, molasses, caramel, slight nutty edge. Quite sweet. Moderate roasted bitterness. Full bodied, smooth and oily, soft carbonation. Sweet camp coffee finish. Enjoyable, though the sweetness increases and becomes a bit overbearing.

Panda thanks to Cloin. Opaque dark brown beer, decent bubbly tan head. Smooth palate, slightly viscous, decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth dark malts, soft light dark malt cream. The coffee is also very smooth and slightly fruity. Whisper of something estery and a little alcohol spice on the smooth finish. Different. Enjoyed this.

440ml can. Pitch black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee and dark chocolate, molasses. Taste is very sweet, dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, molasses, some bitterness but really it's far sweeter than I ever imagined a coffee stout could be, some warming booze too. Full bodied. Very nice but that sweetness stops it being truly great.

Can at home, picked up in Tilt Bingohame, 11/09/24. Pitch black topped with a big old dirty tan head that dissipates to a swirl in time. Nose is molasses, brown sugar melt, liquorice, coffee bean, burnt toffee. Taste comprises chocolate, light spice, mellow coffee grinds, molasses, brown sugar melt. Full bodied, oily viscous feel, semi drying close with a rising kiss of alcohol. Fun enough impy but runs a touch overly sweet and I'd expected more coffee. Not the best series all round this year.

Black beer, thick tan head. Big, boozy coffee aroma. The flavour has.... my goodness it's a delicious coffee blend. There's sweetness, bitterness, a big roasted quality and just enough alcohol burn to counter the coffee and lend it some warmth. Loads of malt in here too, all if which lingers into a beautifully balanced finish and a rich, warming body. Delicious, and the best of this year's Project Barista.
