Kicking off this series with Endless Hum, we called in our old friends at Dogfish Head from Delaware, USA, icons of the craft beer game.

Monk and Dogfish Head came up with the concept over two shared ideas, firstly we both have enjoyed playing with small percentages of rye in the grist of session beers for extra depth of flavour and mouthfeel, and secondly we both enjoyed the white sage twist we added to last year's Hop City's release.

We thought it would be interesting to revisit the use of white sage in a lower ABV beer. Sam at Dogfish Head also sent us some juniper berries to throw in the brew, as they complement both the sage and the rye elements.

The result is a super session IPA with orange, juniper, sage, bready earthy spices and hints of resinous citrus, tropical fruit.

Hops: Centennial, Luminosa, Simcoe

440ml can, 4.8 % abv, as Patrons Project 45.01 Irked / The Endless Hum, bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. A pearl white head, over a hazy amber coloured body, spotty lacing. Slightly spiced aromas with dusty hops and earth. Forest-like taste with almond, juniper, and leafy hops. Kind of bread-fruity ending, lightly spiced. Interesting and pretty good. (Tromsø, 31.08.2024).

440ml can. Hazy golden orange, white head. Aroma of tropical hops, sage and juniper. Taste has some sweet tropical fruits, juniper and sage both coming through, as does the mild rye spiciness at the end, I think this all works, not amazingly well, but it works. Medium bodied. Not going to be everyone's cup of tea that's for sure but I thought this was fine.
