RED IPA! To kickstart our Small Batch Project series we've opted for a potent Red IPA. In our opinion a style that's not brewed enough and which brings together two elements we adore: malt character and a bright hop saturated flavour. We are part of the NZ Hops Bract Brewing Programme which allows us access to some exciting new yet to be released NZ hop varietals. The one in this beer is NZH-105 and on paper looks perfect for this style with its high alpha's and its citrus, dried fruit and woody characteristics.

Panda at home, thanks to the Wingmane, 23/05/24. Amber with a reddish hue topped with an off white cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is pine resin, dank chimes, grass, light perfume, caramel, red grapefruit. Taste comprises ripe tropical fruits, dank chimes, grass, weed, pine resin, blood orange, grapefruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with grassy come dankened hop bitterness. Solid kit.

Panda thanks to Wingman. A light haze on this amber beer, small bubbly cream colour head. Light palate, semi dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Thinnish malts, a little caramel, not that sweet. NZH 105 hops are fairly bitter here, decent pine, a little tropical fruits. Trace of red berries on the back end. Quite a tasty brew but I much preferred the Track beer that featured this lovely new hop.

440ml can. Hazy dirty orange-brown, beige head. Aroma of caramel/toffee malts with pine and punchy NZ vinous/dank hops. Taste is vinous, white wine, tropical fruits, zesty citrus, toffee/caramel malts and some dried fruit/marmalade, assertive piney resinous bitterness. Medium bodied. Beautiful RIPA, superbly balanced too, in my opinion.
