Can. Bright clear deep amber beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry and a decent fine minerally carbonation. Crisp malts, a modicum of dark malt bitterness along with unsweet caramel and toffee. Olicana hops add light pine and a nice ripe orchard fruits vibe. Light dry crisp finish. Nice. Not had an altbier in yonks and this one is a nice take, the Olicana really bringing this frankly limited style, into another dimension.

A clear copper amber coloured pour with a lasting loose beige head. Aroma is rustic brown bready rye, green liquorice, fennel, hedgerow, hints of weed, earthy. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, layered malts, toast, rye, liwuorice, hint of weed, singed grass. Quite a unique hop. Palate is semi sweet, to crisp finish light tang, highish carbonation. Like it a lot.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours clear red-brown with a foamy, khaki head. Light-medium sweet flavour with notes of toasted malts, grain, berries, leaves, earth. Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Nutty finish, more toasted grains, ripening berries. Really tasty, moreish stuff.

Can from Hops & Crafts, Exeter. Pours clear deep amber with a beige cap. Aroma: bread, dark fruits, hints of coffee & chocolate. Taste: light sweet & light to moderate bitter, semi=dry, brown bread, caramel, coffee & chocolate hints. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Pretty well made although the Alt continues to not be my thing.

Can ordered from Ghost Whale, Putney. Aroma is malty with a sweet liquorice streak. Opaque chestnut. Foamy light beige head retreats to the rim. Light-medium bitter. Grainy. Liquorice. Wood. Sour citrus and berry streak. Tangy. Juicy. Medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Enjoyable stuff for sure. Slips down.
