Conditioning: Packaged with a small amount of priming sugar for natural carbonation in the bottle. We do not add yeast at this point, or at any point in the process. Bottles laid to rest on side and conditioned until release.
Notes: Dark, reddy purple in appearance with voluminous pink head. Wonderfully fruit-forward in both aroma and taste. It is rich, and juicy, and fresh - a real homage to the blackcurrants used from that season. Bold minerality. Earthy finish.
Ingredients: Malted barley (pilsner), malted wheat, raw wheat, aged hops (whole leaf fuggles & whole leaf strisselspalt), blackcurrants (ben gairn), water.
Brewing season: 2019/2020

Bottle. Via the online shop I think. Deep purple with a slim pink foam. Nose has blackcurrants. Light oak. Yoghurt. Bit of plastic. Taste is dry and lightly tart with a bit of a burnt plastic bitterness. Jaggedy on the palate. Foamy carbonation. Short dry finish. Doesn’t do it for me. Missus walloped it though. So there’s that.

Bottle at Lost In Leith. Appearance - maroon, red with a pinkish white head. Nose - blackcurrant, blackberry and funk. Taste - more blackberry and blackcurrant. Funk, citrus and tart notes lurking. Palate - light to medium bodied, tart and fairly persistent finish. Overall - yep, good!

Bottle from Leighton at Hazlemere tasting. Aroma is vinous with a berry tang and a spiced streak. Opaque purple. Creamy violet head. Fruity... I mean berryish. Funk. Sherbert. Light. Thin. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Refreshing.

Bottle shared in Hazlemere - picked up from BMT. Pours deep purple-red with a creamy, pink. Lightly sweet with tart blackcurrants, a little musty funk, grapes, stable acidity. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Quenching finish, drying, more bright and fresh and tart berries. Quite good.

Bottle, split at the Hazlemere Movember and chops tasting, thanks to LKS 12/11/21. Cherry red with a good sized crimson head that stays for the show. Nose is sharp cherries, hay bale, funk, light perfume, berry pips, cherry stones. Taste comprises cherry skins, funk, grass, herb, berry fruit compote. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow tang. Decent.
