Bottle. Slick pour. Barely a head. Nose has maraschino cherry. Sweet red wine. Almond chocolate truffle. Taste is fairly sweet up front with a cherry juice tartness. Easy drinking. Tart finish. Tasty gear, but a glass is enough in one sitting. Never got the point of 750s of big hitters like this.

4/12/2021. Bottle sample courtesy of SHIG. Pours almost black with minimal head. Aroma of cinnamon, dark chocolate, fruit cake, black forest gateaux, biscuit, cocoa. Moderate sweetness, light roasted bitterness, medium tart. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Intense boozy, warming and acidic finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle from Mr Frog at Hazlemere tasting. For me the aroma is cinnamon dominated and cinnamon bun. Dark inky brown, solid looking. Medium-heavy bitter with a big tart and sour cherry streak. The cinnamon really asserts itself into the finish. Sweet doughiness is there somewhere in the undertow. Medium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Long astringent finish. Enjoyable but slightly over-eggs the sourness.

Bottle shared by Fergus at SHIG Crashes the Bottle Share at Hazlemere: Poured a black with deep brown. Aroma is cinnamon, boozy, sticky, cake, roasted malts. Taste is tangy, cherry, boozy, tart tart tart.

Bottle shared in Hazlemere - cheers to Fergus. Pours black-brown with a fading, foamy beige head. Nose has some roast and cinnamon. Lightly sweet, quite tart, some chalky cocoa, a little roast, alcohol, tart berries, earth, moderate acidity. Medium to full bodied with spritzy carbonation. Tart, quenching finish, more tangy berries, a little chocolate. Interesting stuff. More like a sour than an imperial stout at this point.

Bottle shared at November Hazlemere tasting. Thanks to Fergus. Pours jet black with a dirty tan head. Aroma is chocolate, fudge brownie, cinnamon, dark cherry. Taste is really tart cherry, chocolate, cinnamon. Quite a spritzy mouthfeel. Probably a bit too tart for me.

Bottle, split at the Hazlemere Movember and chops tasting, thanks to Fergus 12/11/21. Pitch black with a good sized tan covering that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is dark chocolate, spice, bitter cherries, dark malts, light roast. Taste comprises tarte cherries, dark chocolate, spice, tangy red berries, brown sugar dusting, fruit cake. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light nip of booze and a tarte cherry edge. Decent stuff but quite the soured edge on the cherries.

Bottle shared at high Wycombe tasting. From cw online. A jet black oily coloured pour with a whispy dark tan swirl. Aroma is big roasted cinnamon, tonka bean, gateaux, berries, rich dark chocolate. Flavour is composed of big tart cherry, dark black forest gateaux, hints of cinnamon,. Very tart, very complex. Palate is medium sweet, big sour, prickly, moderate carbonation.. Intense stuff.

Appearance is oily black, very clingy muddy film, hardly any head. Aroma is chocolate, tiramisu, rich coffee, leather hints, treacle, fudge cake, cocoa powder, cakey malt, vanilla, boozy whisky hints. Taste is rich dark malt, thick fudge, chewy chocolate, cherry brandy, dark raisiny fruit, dessert wine, coffee beans, vanilla, gooey brownie, caramel sauce, treacly malt. Sweet and very rich, not cloying though. Sweet lengthy finish. So thick and rich. Very decadent and impressive.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is huge cherry, caramel, chocolate, cinnamon, raisin, taste is similar, rich, chewy, fiery spices, sweet.
