750ml bottle, #40 of 360.
Jet black pour, with a large beige head. The aroma is quite sweet, huge notes of raisins, and brown sugar with some roasted malts. Thick, viscous mouth feel, with a very soft carb. The finish is a balanced mix of sweet, and bitter with huge dark, ripe fruit, and some light roast, with alot of sweet malts. Alcohol is well hidden, this is a nice sipper.

750mL bottle. Pours black with thin white head. Aroma is tinny and oxidized. Flavour is very oxidized and metallic, some roasted malts. Probably kept a bit too long.

Medium brown. Not much head. Okay, wow, lots of canned tomatoes on this. No name romas, none of that fancy san marzano stuff, either. On the palate, I actually don't get that character. Soft body, sweet toffee malts, with just a light fruitiness. Odd that it's so disconnected aroma to palate. It's oxidized, and maybe lacking in complexity, as eisbock goes. By the looks of the ratings, it might have passed its prime.

2015 vintage. 750mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of oxidation, with dark dried fruits, cardboard, canned tomatoes, bready malt, and toasted caramel. Flavour is oxidized and vegetal, with intense oxidation, vegetal notes, a hint of canned tomatoes, bready notes, some caramel and red fruits. There's clearly some nice notes in here, but it's just too oxidized and vegetal to be enjoyable at this point -- not sure what it was like 9 years ago.

Vintage 2020 500ml brown bottle from the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a clean copper colour. The head is frothy, light mocha-coloured with good retention for such a high level of alcohol, leaving light spots of lacing and a nice creamy coat over the brew. Very nutty nose with a base of mild dark fruits (dates, prunes, raisins) and some nice warming alcohol. The taste starts off sweet as most Eisbock, but gets dry and bitter with the hops used here. The alcohol is very well-blended in this mix. A flavour base of roasted malt, maybe dark Munich, giving subtle liquorice and molasses. Usually these heavy ones are too rich, and take time to go down, but this is very nicely brewed, without being overly complex. Come out every year and I will have you.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark burgundy color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of grainy malt notes with some dry fruits notes is not too bad. Taste is also a mix of dry fruits and residual sugar notes with some grainy malt notes which work more or less well with the other flavours. Body is about average with good carbonation. While there is some great quality to this beer but the grainy malt notes didn’t really work for me.
