A deep dark stout with no head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, alcohol warmth, light bourbon barrel notes, vanilla, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, coconut cream, vanilla, alcohol warmth, light nutella, very nice and rich. On tap at Hautes Plaines location.

Very dark brown, almost black colour with hardly any highlights. A small, fizzyish, warm-dark mocha-coloured head and just a tiny, thin cloud-island left on the brew. Bourbon aromas of booze, raisins, over the roasted malt base with some wood, molasses chocolate and hints of vanilla-maple. Silky, oily mouthfeel with a slow-building dryness, into some bitterness. A nice blended taste with nothing sticking out of the rest. Roasted barley, some mild sweetness like maple syrup mixed with bitter cacao. The vanilla is just balancing things with the oak wood and touch of Bourbon alcohol. A nice warming Imperial Stout with lots going on, but no fighting.

750ml (thx, Jonathan M., for proxying) @ 🏡 Appearance: very dark brown with dark brown head. Aroma: loads of dark chocolate, vanilla, American oak, some light sweetness. Taste: along the same lines, lots of American oak, some light sweetness, vanilla. Moderate to highly thick. Overall: an amazing example of the new school American imperial stouts, which are thick and not overly sweet/adjuncted.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with some retention and some lacing notes. Aroma of black chocolate notes with some vanilla and bourbon notes. Taste is also a mix of black chocolate notes with some vanilla and bourbon notes with a woody finish. Body is full with oily texture with good carbonation with some alcohol notes that are discernible. Great BA stout with some signs clearly showing the quality of the barrels that were used.
