18/10/2018. Cask at the Robin Hood Beer & Cider Festival 2018, Nottingham. Pours black with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, moderate roasted malt, light coffee and fruits. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, slick texture, very soft carbonation. 'Simple' it might be, but very good and for me one of the most enjoyable at the festival.

Gravity cask from the Real Ale Classroom. Black and opaque with a loose and uneven khaki head. Coffee beans, slate, salt liquorice and molasses in the aroma. The taste gives way to a brown sugar sweetness after the initial expected bitterness. Liquorice, blackberry and mega-sugared black coffee in the aftertaste, with a touch of star anise and black pepper. Body's a bit flat, perhaps this one might work better in keg to give it a bit of life. Overall very good.
