Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a ruddy burnt amber to brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a moderate pace. Stringy glossy lace.
The aroma has some toffee malts, figs, super light amount of chocolate and toast. Vanilla sweetness as well.
The flavor leans malty sweet with a graceful attempt of low grassy bittering hops. Toasty vanilla warmth enters in on the aftertaste with the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable to sipping quality about it. Alcohol warmth wants to show some pizzazz but maintains a good background. Slyly smooth on my tongue.
Overall, really nice English styled strong ale perfect for this time of the year, of course I would have this again.

12oz bottle-pours a full light brown head and brown color with orange tint. Aroma is roasty dark malt-toffee, some smoke, some yeast. Taste is roasty, medium/dark malt-toffee, some smoke, chickory, secondary copper/earthy hops bite, some yeast. Medium body. Aggressively carbonated. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for picking this out.

Pours mahogany into a snifter. Off-white head quickly recedes to hug rim leaving slight lacing. Chocolate aromas. Crisp yet creamy. Christmas spices, pit fruit and chocolate. Toasty hop finish. Nice winter warmer, but I’m only good for one...

A red copper ale with a thin creamy white head. A nice caramel malt with pungeant light hops, some wild berries. In mouth, a nice nutty malt with restrained floral hops. Medium bodied. On tap at Hop Devil Grill, Nov. 2006. 3$ pint.

Dark brown color and almost no head to speak of. Uninteresting and standard aroma. Malty taste... a few weird elements in there that are left to ambiguity. Drinkable, but not really that good of a beer.

Cloudy beige-brown colour with a thin caramel head. Light caramel flan aroma, some earth, faint pear. Earthy flavour, with light cocoa, and a hint of roasty astrigency.

Darker brown, quite muddy with some brownish red tinges. Good amount of sediment floating around. Small off white head. Lots of lacing. Smells very unique. Coffee? Lots of moderately bitter hops flavor. This is unlike many other beers Ive had. Maybe has some blueberry but this is probably from the barley. Quite the mix of hops and malt. Almost like a coffee flavored IPA.
