The appearance was a ruddy burnt dark orange to amber color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that slid off pretty quick. Not much lace.
The aroma had some sweet nuts, smooth caramel/toffee sweet malts, grassy hops and sweet bready/doughiness.
The flavor leaned towards the smooth sweet breadiness. Some dark breadiness came in. Super smooth lingering malty aftertaste and finish.
The palate was between light and medium bodied. Good sessionability. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, good as a beer, somewhat lager-like, but didn’t bother me. I’d come back to this.

Slightly hazy muddy brown coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of nuts (what else), malt, caramel and a touch of toffee - some strong sweetness along with the nuts. Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty and malty characteristic with a bit of a milky, soapy texture that assists the flavours. Aftertaste is fairly mild with some more earthy and robust malt flavours going around. Overall, an okay beer in my least preferred style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York for US$2.50 on 20-November-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 20-December-2011.

12 oz Bottle. Pours brown with a small head,little head. Caramel malt aroma, nutty and some toast as well. The flavor has roasted malt and sweet caramel, as well as chestnuts. Nothing amazing, not bad, just very middle of the road.

Pours dark amber into a shaker. Tan head with excellent retention leaves slow sheets. Light malt aromas. Thin with sweet, dark caramel, turning slightly dry in the finish.

Taupe head and a ruby brown body. Light malty aroma. Kinda nutty taste, but mostly rather malty, with a slight roasty element to it. Very mild sweetness. Light on the palate... very smooth.

2004 bottle. Medium dirt-brown color, vigorous bubbles rising and a fizzy, off-white, disipating head. Aroma of cola, light hazelnut syrup, some light sticky toffee or caramel. Dry, astringent yeast. Flavor, after the ridiculous amount of carbonation has died off somewhat, is actually not bad for this brewery. After being severely underwhelmed by a majority of their, simple, extract tasting beers, this one I actually did not pour out. Some light chocolate notes mix with a drier yeast and nutty flavor to create some semblance of balance. Relatively dry caramel adds some pleasant flavoring to the finish. Body is medium, fairly loose and lightly watery. Wachusett is another brewery that filters any life out of their beers, but this one was passable as a simple, session brown. No hops apparency, maybe that’s why I didnt mind it.
