Bottled. Deep ambery brown colour with a mediumsized foamy white head. Aroma is some bretty funk, mild malty sweetness, wood and some slight alcohol tones. Flavour is tart berries with some dried fruits, mild plum tones with sweet malts as well. Some smooth wooden elements become evident when warming up a bit.

Bottle, 6.8%. Good citric and funky aroma, smells like red wine barrel. Cloudy copper colour. Good stable off-white head. The flavour is fruity, citric, funky. Tastes of red wine barrel, but it also reminds me of some infected beers. I like it, though.

Bottle. Pours hazy lightish copper brown with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of hops, malt and caramel, with notes of yeast and spice and some acidic hints. Sourish (wine barrel?) flavour with peppery, dusty and hoppy flavour and touches of malt. Estery, dusty and dry afteraste. Nice.

0,33l bottle at home courtesy of Koelschtrinker (I think), thanks. Bottle #199. BB 05/2020. redish hazy color, small pink head. smells earthy, sourish, dill, light wine notes, some berry notes, marzipan, nutty, hints of booze. decent smell, not totally convincing. full body, almost no carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes lightly sourish, tannins, light grapes, bit harsh, scratchy wood, light marzipan, bit nutty, light booze, hints of some fruit notes, light sweetness. finishes sweet&sour with notes of grapes, tannins and some nutty notes. Just Ok, balance is terrible. Flavours are all over the place. Just drinkable but not a big fan.

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle, best before May 2020. Clear, amber with a white head. Sweetish, slightly malty, gently vinous and a bit fruity aroma of caramel, red wine and some wood. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, quite vinous and slightly fruity taste of caramel, red wine and some wood, followed by a short, slightly bitter, vinous and woody finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite heavy on the barrel, but very tasty if you like vinous flavours.

Bottled 330ml (Boxbeers)
Murky dark amber-brown colour, creamy steady small head and lace. Aroma has funkyness (bretta), wood, earth and some sweetness perhaps from Marsala barrel. Medium-bodied. Tart, funky with some fruityness, wood leading to dry finish. At first this felt like failed BA but actually this is interesting. Not much left from the original Altbier I believe.
