12 oz. bottle purchased @ BrewTopia. Nice deep ruby color with thin white head that did give spider web lace. Nose is plenty of fresh, wet hops. The taste is sweet malt and light pine hops with grapefruit and floral hop notes. Earthy and herbal as well. Mild, lingering bitterness long after the sip. Medium in body. The hop profile is borderline Double IPA. Hop Heads should really enjoy for a “standard” IPA classification.

Great amber coloured body with a thick tan head. and some bubbles rising from the bottom - nice. Aroma of strong almost-wet hops with pine, alcohol and grapefruit coming out most, with a good malt backbone and a nice bitter scent. Medium-bodied; Strong fresh hop flavour with a good herbal and floral flavour and a metallic kick at the end. Aftertaste shows some good malt background and a touch of spices and some light alcohol, but not as deep as expected. Overall, the hops really come out in the nose, but they are less apparent in the flavour and especially the finish. A nice beer for sure, but I could have had more bitterness - regardless, the fresh hops smell great and do well in this beer, I just wish they added more in the boil. Great to sample, given that i’m nowhere close to this brewery. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Colonial Spirits in Acton, Massachusetts on 23-September-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 07-October-2010.

Pours gold into a shaker. Sweet hop aromas. Silky cream caramel with a lasting bitter finish.

On draught, 9/10/2005 at Sunset Grille. Pours a lovely, highly unfiltered, drab to olive brown, with slight hints of dark beige and copper and a substantial, well-retained, foamy white head with plenty of lacing. The aroma is fresh, hoppy and green. Yep, it’s a harvest ale. Light grains, unpasteurized nature brings forth the yeast, musty, soily and fresh. I live for Ipswich beers, I must admit. Flavor is very bitter up front, light floral notes, bits of very dry grapefruit, but no resin/pine or fuelic hops, no high alcohol. All the fresh hops of a Double IPA without the syrupy, sweet caramel and overboard hops acidity. Nutty, dry, more soily, earthy notes, a grainy, substantial, unfiltered mouthfeel, plenty of yeastiness and a light, biscuity malt finish, low sweetness. Hops linger long and are very flavorful. Not as much body as I would like, as it’s still a bit too unbalanced towards the hoppy side of the spectrum, but it’s refreshingly bitter and dry and probably a treat for someone who enjoys hops more than me. Yum.
