.5L from Sandy’s Liquors. Clear orange brown with a small off white head. Nose of caramel, wheat toast, and light sweetness. Flavor of caramel, and very light bitterness.

2006 swing-top bottle at Sunset Grill on 12/14/06
Deep beeswax yellow with some canteloupe tints and an initially large, off-white head that fairly rapidly falls to cover, leaving only spotty lacing. Clarity is high and if this is an unfiltered "kellerbier" it certainly can’t be discerned from the bottle (no sediment at the bottom after investigation). Initial flurry of carbonation dies down quickly, settling out with only a few bubbles rising inconsistently.
Grass and butter in the nose. Not a heavy butteriness and certainly no popcorn or papery qualities, but more like a buttercreamy maltiness. It definitely comes across much too rich and overbearing for the noble hops that attempt to complement it. In their own right, the hops are quite nicely done. Leafy, green and very fresh, with plenty of herbal complexity and grassy dryness, they hang lightly and tantalizingly on the nose. But they fall in to the rather soggy, heavy, aforementioned malts and are especially consumed as the beer warms/breathes. Light toastiness on the end, plenty of breadiness and thick honey/light caramel sweetness. No particular lager yeast crispness, but nor is it metallic or flawed. Medium strength of aroma, no alcohol noted.
Sweet, but not overly fresh tasting malts are abundant in the flavor. Buttercream, honey, toffee and a lightly sourish, toasted malt note that weaves itself in to the sweetness, creating a sort of tangy buttercream flavor....As you may imagine, it’s not quite the best combination of flavors. The hops are rather lost in the flavor as well, adding a gentle bitterness and light spiciness, but being altogether lacking in real flavor. Carbonation is very low, further accentuating the overbearing, sluggish, syrupy maltiness. Some light mineral character and a hard-to-define staleness or sweatiness sits on the finish. Not crisp on the end. Sticky texture, but loose as well with wateriness creeping in on the end.

Swing-top bottle: Copper coloured, thin and a bit lacing white foamy layer; sweetish malty nose with a touch of caramel and dried fruit; initial slight sweet maltiness; light bitter-sweet flavour; longer lasting finish: combination of dry bitter tones with maltiness. Not great, but goes down well.......
