A collaboration with Villages Brewery and Lomond coffee, a % of every sale goes to Heart n Soul, an award winning charity also based in Deptford that believes in the power and talents of people with learning disabilities. Artwork is by Aysen, one of the talented artists they support. This beer is a rich, bitter brown ale brewed with a plethora of speciality malts. Fermented low and slow with a neutral US strain to provide a clean base to let the local Lomond coffee and classic dank US hop aromatics shine.

440ml can on 20th February 2021 from Caps and Taps, Kentish Town. Pours dark brown with light tan foam decreasing rapidly in thickness, and spot lacing. Rich spicy malts in aroma with hint of soapiness. Intense citrus zests and spicy malts in-mouth, and a satisfying malt finish that is not sweet. Full bodied with a smooth yet engaging mouthfeel. Absolutely exquisite.

Can from Wine Reserve, Cobham. As soon as I popped the can I got a whiff of creamy nutty chocolate. The aroma when the beer has actually been served then adds light coffee and caramel. Opaque cola brown. Thick foamy fluffy beige head. Light coffee and hoppy bitterness, followed by an enveloping sweet and sugary burnt caramel streak. The hoppy bitterness regains some prominence into the finish. Thick bodied. A full fat creamy mouthfeel. Prickly flat-average carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. The sweetness I'd expect from a Brown Ale with complimentary coffee and hops. I like.

Can at home in Hackney - sourced from London Beer Lab. Pours clear, rich brown with a frothy beige head. Lovely beer, moderately sweet with notes of toasted wholegrain bread, light roast, nips of cocoa and molasses, soft earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with massaging carbonation. Finishes with more well toasted malts, burnt sugars, hints of grapefruit and earth, black coffee. Super solid.
