(750ml bottle from the BG18 brewpub...when it still existed) Pours clear deep purplish-red like a med-bodied red wine with a small lavender-coloured head and no lace. Aroma is nice fresh and very fleshy/pulpy cherries, sweet and lightly sour with some skin and a little cinnamon spice to them too, a bright salinity of sorts, softly lactic, some lightly earthy mulchy yeast but not heavily funky, maybe a little bit of old hops in there. Flavour is very lightly sweet and lightly lactic-tart, again nice fleshy cherries (feel like a dark-fleshed sour cherry) with soft noyaux nuttiness and a touch of cinnamon, lactic quality is slightly yogurty, funk is very restrained and just lightly leathery/earthy, saline sort of minerality, finish is fruity cherry with a nice smooth acidity, soft skin tannins and just a little earthy spicebox. Light to medium body, oily, soft bottle conditioned carbonation. Beautiful cherry character here. The funky flora could be more developed for complexity but the balance and fruit are very nice.
A burgundy red ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity cherry malt with Brett, woody notes, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice tart mix of ground cherry, light lactic notes, light Brett, cherry, very nice.
