Keg at the Juke, Kings Heath, Birmingham. Very dark brown and only slightly translucent. The beige head disappears quickly. Light chocolate aroma with a metallic tinge. The taste is quite lovely, sweet with a decent little dollop of bitterness. Short finish. Carbonation is too heavy. Not bad... I'm used to Mad Hatter's bigger beers and their sours, so I found this a little bit wanting. But in truth it's certainly a good enough porter.

Keg @ Beer Heroes, Chester. Pours dark brown, pale tan head. Dark malt on the nose. Fairly light on the palate, a bit like an old-style porter, some light chocolate moments, bitter dark malt. Light carbonation. Comes and goes without leaving much of a mark.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines, Sheffield. Clear, deep chestnut brown. Thin and messy, lacing, lasting, beige head. Nose has cocoa powder. Earthy chocolate. A little milky, although there’s no lactose in this. Taste has some sweetness, and an earthy, woody bitterness. Light body. A tad watery. Light bitterness to finish. Ok.
