A dense off-white head with sustained lacing on a deep auburn body. Sweet malt, spice and toffee on the nose. Well roasted german malts, walnuts, caramel, ripe berries, plums, and chewy biscuit build a substantial taste profile. Slick, sweet and slightly sticky. A great winter warmer indeed.

An amber ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, light cereals, OK. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, light treacle, OK. On tap at brewery.

Pours a slight hazy, copper-amber colour with a warm beige frothy head, good stay and full creamy lacing all-around. Hoppy nose with herbal notes over fruity red malts, caramel and hints of nuts. The taste seems to show a little touch of infection, which turns me off. The rest is the fruity malts with again, the hops taking over in the finish. Wish Winter Red Ale meant more spices, than the usual over-hopped brews. Does not do much for me, and would call this an American Red Ale.
