Kees caramel fudge stout is a favourite across all the staff at North, so when it came to collaborating with the famed dark wizards the choice of what we should brew together was quite easy.
Here we’ve brewed a big 10% imperial stout with a complex malt grist using eight different malts, caramel in the boil and coffee and cocoa nibs in the fermentor. The beer has a big nose of creamy tiramisu, an incredibly smooth and silky body and a balanced sweetness to carry these heavyweight flavours. Flavours of rich chocolate, sweet cherries from the mildly roasted coffee and clean oak from the cocoa nibs make this beer a perfect aperitif or pudding substitute.

Tap @ True North Bar, Stavanger. Black body with a small, dense beige head. Aroma is smooth roasted, dark malt, hint of vanilla and caramel. Flavor is a little bit of disappointment based on the aroma, roasted dark malt, vanilla, coffee and moderate bitterness, but it feels a bit raw and almost slightly acidic bitter in the aftertaste. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. By all means a really fine stout, but something is missing to make it a top notch one.

Can from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Black with next to no head. It’s strong tasting with a light roasted malt flavour. There’s some nuttiness too, and has a mild sticky-sweet texture.

200ml draught at Agenturet Øl og Vinbar. Dotted spots on the glass from a filmy beige layer. Black in the glass. Promising smell of nutty malts and almond. Mid-sweet chocolate flavours joined by nuts and liquorice. Smooth, mid-sweet malt driven finish. Fine depth. Enjoying. (Tromsø 03.11.2018).
