Let’s not pretend: Being born as Siamese twins makes for a challenging life. To say the least. But that was the harsh reality for Freddy and Falco Fulchrist from Akaroa in New Zealand. In many ways they were lucky, because compared to other Siamese twins they were rather well-functioning. Above the waist they had double sets of everything, but below…. Well, that was a different story. But at least they could walk, that is if they could agree on the direction. The thing is that Freddy and Falco had very different personalities, paired with terribly strong tempers. So, they would not only often argue verbally, but sometimes even fight physically. Although getting the right punch in could be difficult. At some point they had had enough and booked a flight to Thailand where a local surgeon claimed he could separate them. Halfway, he had to give up, though, leaving them with a forever huge scar right down between them. But when Christmas was approaching the tensions between the twins always faded, because loving Christmas was the one thing they could agree on. And every year the posh department store ‘Ballantynes of Christchurch’ would hire them as the world’s only Siamese Santa. And the kids loved them, as they were given double the attention and double promises of Christmas gifts. And that’s the moral of this story, that even the most quarrelsome of Siamese twins can find peace and rejoice for Xmas in the company of little children, and perhaps also dogs. Amen.

Can from Amager Bryghus because jule beers were on sale. Murky orange banana. Passion fruit, mango, a tad edgy. Bitter, intense, creamy, verrrry hoppy. Hu, this is strong ipa-ish. If it only tasted like it smelled...

Can. Murky pineapple juice with green or yellow foam. Fresh tropical, foamy mouthfeel, light hop burn, a bit resin, pine, pithy tropical fruit with peel. Bitter finish. A bit much in the long run.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours very hazy, orange juice-like, with fine white foam. Aroma is fruity, hoppy, tropical. Body is average, with moderate carbonation. Those nine degrees of alcohol are impossible to find, masked very well. Taste is medium-bitter, with a little fruity sweetness behind. Final is not particularly long or strong.

On tap @ Ghetto Something, courtesy of Goran. Aroma is ripe tropical fruity, toasted, resinous and herbal. Pours cloudy dark golden color with thin creamy white head and soft visible carbonation. Taste starts medium sweet toasted malty and ripe tropical fruity, following is citrusy, herbal and piney, mouthfeel is oily, while finish is moderate bitter. Full body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. This one seems more summerlike than Christmas-like…
