Trapp Family Lodge Sugarhouse. A touch of Rauch malt is used to create the
base layer of subtle smoke. A blend of Munich and Carafa malts gives this
lager its deep hue and full body, balanced with noble hops. The maple
rounds out this lager perfectly.

Enjoyed April 25th, 2023 at the brewery. Clean, ambler colour with golden highlights, and off-white, frothy-creamy head leaving creamy lacing. Fruity malt nose with light smokiness. Smoky taste with the light maple sweetness, balanced by the herbal-hop notes. The mouthfeel has a nice dry touch in the end. Quite a nicely blended, dryer Rauchbier, with that tad maple.

Can best before 7/24/23, drunk 4/16/23. Clear maple-amber. Small, off-white head quickly to ring. Smokey and malty with a touch of salty smoke accentuating the drier wood smoke. Clean, touch of fruitiness, but low residual maple. Moderately soft and malty, well-attenuated. Smokiness is enjoyably woody and peppery with a hint of caramel and vanilla on the end. Low maple, wouldn't know it's there. Could use a bit more malt depth; it's a touch flat/hard. Very clean though.

Stowe Style. Collab series with Trapp Family Sugar House. 7.0%. Pours beautiful clear copper into an English pint. Tan micro head with excellent retention conglomerates as it recedes leaving trailing spiders. Maple bacon aromas. Medium bodied with sweet maple bacon upfront turning to earthy toasted raisin bread and plum in the dry, lasting finish. Becomes cloying as it warms, good thing it's tasty enough to just drink it fast....

16 ounce can at Flying Pig Tavern & Tap in Bordentown, NJ. Amber orange pour. Small beige head. Toasted malt aroma has a sweet, smoky character. Flavor follows nose. Toasted malt, sweet maple and mild smoke. Hints of toffee and herbal hops. Wonderfully balanced and layered with smokehouse flavors. A great example of the Rauchbier style!

Can at the DC post-Thanksgiving 2021 gathering. Poured a kind of murky, hazy brown color with a small white head. Aroma was really pleasant maple. Light smoke. Light sweetness, with some nutty notes. Very clean and pleasant for a maple/smoke beer.

12oz can pours a rootbeer brown with some white head. Nose has brown sugar and malt and maple sugar and light smoke. Flavors follow closely, mostly maple and maple, the smoke presents more earthy, some Tootsie Roll. Finishes just off dry.

Big maple tone, mostly dominates the smoke tone, but the malts start to shine more and more. Really drinkable, lots of flavor.
