Wild Sour Series: Key Lime Pie Gose

Whew, how many of these wild sour is dehstil going to make? Every time I turn around, there are a couple new ones on the shelf at the bottle shop. This two buck fitty can pours near clear pale. Yes, a nice nose of lime. First taste is tart with lime fer sher, also good level of carbonation on the palate. Yes tart lime with some sizzle. Not sher if I'd call this a gose, probably more like a sour. Its lacking in the salt character to call it a gose and its more sour than a real gose, JMHO. Still, its very enjoyable and quite refreshing. I like key lime pie but this is more tart than what I would say key lime pie possesses. Comparatively, this is much more pleasing than that stupid ass destihl blueberry crumble gose I had the other day.

Can. A- Lime, tangy. A- Yellow color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Lime, tart, subtle vanilla. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Okay on flavor but a bit week, just missing the mark of really hitting the dessert but still a decent gose.

12 ounce can from Festival Northland, 9/3/21. Slighty hazy yellow, medium white head, average retention. Aroma of tart lime, vanilla. Taste is juicy lime, pale malt, apple skins, a hint of vanilla. Thin, moderate sourness. Decent.

Canned, 355 ml shared with Miro B, Max and Zec. Cloudy orange with small white head. Light bodied. Lime, tad salty, vanilla, medium sourness.

Bright gold with a medium sized foamy head. Tart lime, a bit of yeast, lactose and graham cracker. Very long finish. Medium body.

Refrigerated 12 oz. can, canned July 8, 2020 poured into a glass. Slightly hazy golden with small white head. Aroma is lime, light body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is sweet tangy lime, vanilla, and some salt.

12oz can picked up at Harmon's. Pours clear straw golden with a small white head, light lacing. Graham crackers, vanilla, key lime, tart, mild salty. Very nice.

12oz can. Destihl still goes for that hard, biting sour. Pleasant vanilla graham cracker lime tone, almost stands up the the sour but not quite. I really enjoy key lime pie flavor, so this works for me. More of a slow sipper than most Goses in 2020. Good.

Ultra clear golden and lightly orange coloured body with a faint, sliver of a pale white head that fades immediately upon pouring. Aroma of ultra funky yeasts with some ashtry, a dash of brine, a lot of caster sugar, icing sugar, fake fruits and a big hit of old ladies (think grandmother) perfume - very funky, fragrant and pungent in a bad way. Light-bodied; Sharp fake lime flavous dominate at first with a lot of lactose and creamy notes with a lot of perfume, hay, grass and funky yeast flavours that show through as the old lady perfume of yesteryear, but in the mouth, which makes it that much worse. Aftertaste shows some somewhat better and lighter lime and lemon citrus notes, but the yeast and briney, salt components show stronger and leaves the palate somewhat salty and ready for the next sip, despite the perfume and funky yeast qualities. Overall, a pretty funky, pungent and odd-tasting beer that never seems to align with the style and/or what they were trying to produce, given the fact that the caster sugar, perfume and funky yeasts all hit about the same level and the citrus, brine and malt don't really show at all. Not really worth trying to find, unless you love your grandmother, her old perfume or a really funky yeast and citrus combination of a 'beer'. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Knightly Spirits in Orlando (Orange Blossom Trail), Florida on 19-April-2019 for US$2,84 sampled at home in Washington on a warmer day here in 'Winter' on 25-January-2020. Rating for this Sample: 2,2,4,2,6 Can #2: Ever so slightly hazy golden and peach coloured body with a thinnish, off-white head that fades fairly quickly and leaves just about nothing on the sides. Aroma of light limes, a lot of wheat and some soured, tart lemons with a good kick of brine and perhaps pure salt here, with a good layering of lactose/sugars and the malts that shows nicely in the nose. Light to Medium-bodied; Very funky and creamy lactobilly notes dominate at first with a lot of soured, tart fruit qualities that show some limes, but especially a creamed lime note like what would be in the pie (imagine that?!?) with some good wheat and lightly oaty malt notes that provide a good balance and a dash of pure tart notes on the finish. Aftertaste shows some softer soured and tart key lime flavours with a good oat and malt bill that is easy-going but perhaps a bit deep and funky to combine with the lactose and creamy notes. Overall, a pretty nice and very true-to-name gose with a lot of brine and salt content and a good soured, tart fruit component with a good, easy-drinking profile throughout that still has a subtle complexity. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Knightly Spirits in Orlando (Orange Blossom Trail), Florida 19-April-2019 for US$2,84 canned on 28-February-2019 and sampled three and a half years later at my house here in Washington on 08-September-2022 the day Queen Elizabeth II died.
