Draught at the brewery, 5/4/16.
A modest-chestnut to medium-mahogany, murky somewhat, with a rapidly fleeting light beige head.
Soft smoke, vinousness and a bit of caramel/toffee seem to show off a very well-executed blend of a scottish ale/gruit hybrid. Light lactic and milk chocolate notes sit nicely on the finish with no alcohol or flaws.
Just a touch of smoke, as they say, with a strong, herbal bitterness that balances the toffee/caramel maltiness perfectly. Malty-to-slick texture with a peppery finish and hints of lactic acid and milk chocolate (lactic acid probably actually the bitter plant compounds). Great stuff with a fun sweet-to-sour-to-bitter ratio.

Good sized draft sample at the Granite State Brewfest yesterday. Cloudy gold, buttery with some odd spicy flavors, not a fan.

Sample at the Nano brewery. Light ruby color, thin head. The nose is a bit light, grainy husky malt with burnt caramel and light berry. The flavor is much the same, toasted maltiness and caramelized sugar, ripe fruitiness. Distinct smoked peat flavor with the mildly tart berry. Light citrus tones. Damn easy to drink. I really enjoyed the pairing of fruit, peat and malts. I ordered two samples and if I had my growler with me I would have filled it.
