Poured from 750ml bottle December 2016 split 2 ways dark black with nice lacing and a thin cocoa head. Aromas of honey roasted malt chocolate and coffee. Taste is sweet and perhaps the honey thinned out the body but it is pretty good. I can imagine this is a bourbon or apple brandy barrel.

Draught at the brewery, 1/8/17.
Dark mahogany with tan hues on the edges and a large tan head atop showing moderate retention.
Mild, fruity coffee and lots of milk chocolate in the nose eventually give way to treacle, raisin and strong caramel. Quite well-balanced and only a touch of alcohol character. Low hop notes. Clean.
In the mouth it’s lightly sticky, showing moderate to moderately-high attenuation with a trace of honey blending in to the caramel and milk chocolate. Drier roast and cracker character follows with light prune and bitter cacao. Lingering warmth from the alcohol is light but present. Low but ample carbonation.

4 oz. draft @ NS. Deep brown color with lasting off white head. Aroma is honey on top of mild roast, light chocolate, notes of ash.

The base stout as ok roasted malt, light traces of honey toward the finish. I think the honey may have thinned out the body a tad. The alcohol is noticed but doesn’t the distract from the flavor. Overall above average but not top tier. I think I am losing my love for this brewery. They are getting too big for their britches. (I know that feeling)
