Draught at the brewery, 3/24/18.
Dark chestnut-to-mahogany. Clear, with an off-white head fading quickly to a ring.
A bit softer and creamier, with more base malt showing and no roast, compared to the similar brown ale. No sour, overexposed specialty malt here, at least. Light, playful fruitiness and no alcohol and very little hop character.
In the mouth it's somewhat soft, though still rather watery and thin at points. Fruity and bready with light honey and vanilla lingering amongst strong red fruit esters and a kiss of herbal hops. Mostly dry with a bit of malt depth, though could use more. No flaw or alcohol.

4 oz. draft at the source. Aroma is Vienna and Earthy malts. Flavor is straight forward and plain. Toasted grains. (toffee, sweet malts) with some light yeasty hints in the finish. No issues or major flaws just very simple.

On tap at the brewery.
Sample glass.
The appearance was a dark red color with some wispy white lace running all around after the head dissipated.
The smell started off with some sweet caramel to toffee to nutty sweetness all around.
The taste was mildly sweet with the hops playing an ever so slightly grassy bitter backbone to it. Still, mostly smooth for the most part like an Irish red ale. Crisp sweet nutty to toffee to caramel backbone in the background.
On the palate, just like any good Irish red ale, its smooth and rich hitting my tongue exactly as it should. Nutty portion hits nicely in the feel.
Overall, damn nice Irish red ale. It does everything for the style and packs in all of your malty needs. I’d have again.
