Draught at Tortas Frontera, 7/31/18.
Soft, lightly-to-moderately hazy, rosy-peach with dull brass. Small, white head atop shows moderate-to-low retention.
Lightly sweet (honey, cookie, spongecake) and malty in the nose with no real corn character but a bit of cereal-biscuit. Traditional white ale notes are pretty limited with no big bubblegum (fine with me) nor any clove or coriander. Even the citrus is limited to just a pinch of light tangerine. No alcohol or flaw. Mostly just malt in the nose, quite simple and not overly aromatic.
In the mouth it's soft, with fuzzy, light carbonation and lots of white bread, table sugar and light honey-like malt notes. Sweet and rather inoffensive, if very simple. Light bitterness throughout with a hint of herbs and some drying on the finish. Not much of a corn character, unfortunately, as that would have been pretty interesting.

Can from Binny’s. Pours hazy yellow. Nose is banana, orange peel, grapefruit, blood orange. Palate is grainy banana, some weird nutty aroma (That must be the Hominy), the same in the finish. Weird, but ok

The initial pour is a hazy dark yellow, close to brass, with a big puffy white head kicking up in my narrow glass. The small has a bit of tartness with might come more from the wheat in the grist. Taste has citrus at the top, and maybe a bit of a mineral component that could come from the hominy, perhaps aided by the conditioning of the water. The adjunct also give me a bit of a fusel alcohol sensation. There also was a bit of yeast settled to the bottom of the can, which is typical for the Belgian style, though it’s always a surprise to find in the can. So that dropped in a yeast afterbite. Something of a milk sourness at the end as well. By itself and from a can, I did not find it especially endearing, but I will hope to catch it on tap and paired with some food meant to go with it.
