Tap at Craft Bier Fest Wien. Lots of dried fruits, rummy woody notes, caramel, light light smoke. High sweetness, only moderate balancing bitterness. Quite good though it could use more complexity.
Earlier Rating: 11/20/2015 Total Score: 4.4
Tap at Craft Bier Fest Wien. I will just say it is fucking good. This is how barrel aged barley wines should be done. Rich malty complex and clearly showing the barrels. Excellent.

500 ml bottle from Brew Age Shop, hand-numbered 68/480, bb 11/11/2018.
Deep copper, clear body, with a small, creamy, a bit fizzy, beige head.
Aroma of barrel, dark and dried fruits, caramel, vanilla, coconut, almonds, cocoa, bourbon.
Taste follows this, with a subtle booze.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes bitter-sweet, a bit roasty, wooden, quite dry, a bit alcoholic, with some cocoa, slight hops.

Very tasty. Really complex, with various barrel, fruit and sweet malt notes in a great balance. Drinks pretty smooth, alcohol is noticeable, but overall the ABV is well hidden. Clearly my favourite beer by this brewery so far, great example of a barrel aged strong ale, without overdrawing the BA part.
