Each year we open up the brewer’s cellar of Framinghammers and release a limited quantity of a few selections. This year we have a 2022 variety, PB & Mallow.

Many of us grew up eating peanut butter and marshmallow sandwiches. Some say it’s a New England thing. We say it’s delicious. And since we’re all just big kids now, we thought that this would be the perfect inspiration for a Framinghammer variety.

Pretty classic Marshmallow nose, not over sweet,

Bottle pour from One Stop Market. Dark cola brown with thin cap of head fading to ring, no lacing. Aroma is strong peanut butter, milder sweet marshmallow and bourbon with hint of spice (cinnamon? coconut?). Taste is strong spice over peanut butter and marshmallow. Smooth, frothy texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. All the elements are here and the spice is a nice surprise but is a bit overpowering. Peanuts a bit muted.

500 ml bottle. Thank you Tom on the share. Aroma is marshmallow, vanilla, milk chocolate, and a hint of roast. Taste is marshmallow, vanilla, caramel, and a nice spice note in the finish. Peanut butter is mild. Spice is from the barrel for certain. Quite good!

2022 bottle drunk 6/9/23. Dark, clear, small, dark beige head showing lowish retention. Nose is a healthy mix of fruity marshmallow, roasted malts, gentle bourbon and more dark fruit on the finish. Earthy, roasty, lightly salty peanut butter is not overdone (nor is the fluff). Clean, not boozey. Soft, malty, great depth of flavor and malt with good complexity. The fluff is prominent but compelling to me and works with the overall flavor profile. Lightly salty peanuts, gentle bourbon spiciness and just an all around barrel-mellowed feel to the beer. While this is certainly no BCBS, I definitely don't think it's remotely thin or under-bodied. I love how not syrupy and attenuated it is, yet still with enough structure and maltiness. Very impressed, guess I'll have to pick more of these up.
