Draught @ Vinyl Beer, Manhattan (June 2025). Dark brown with faint red highlights, foamy dark beige head, dark chocolate aroma, medium carbonation, medium bitter dark chocolate-mocha taste, smooth thin body, long bitter finish. Very smooth and tasty.

Can (4/17/24) pour from Steve. Cloudy/murky brown with nice sparkle, thin tan head with good retention and ring of lacing. Aroma is sweet/toasted malts and brown bread/molasses. Taste is strong toasted malt, toffee and light pine. Smooth, frothy texture, soft carbonation and dry, earthy finish. About as well as a standard brown ale can be made.

Good brown ale. Haven’t had one in a while, and now it’s two in one evening.

16 oz draft. Aroma is nitty and hints of chocolate. Flavor has the mild chocolate and earthy malt finish. Medium body and balanced. Good for the style.

Canned 2/22/23, drunk 4/7/23. Clear dark cola, dark-ruby. Dark beige head, small, well-retained. Smells nutty, lots of chocolate and hazelnut. Some soft pine and citrus in there, having had the edge taken off by a month and so in the can, if it ever even had an edge (probably not). Chocolate, pine, citrus, great malt and attenuation. Definitely much like a black IPA. Chocolate and pine, very refreshing. Lightly sweet, lots of floral and pine but no resin whatsoever. There's a slight touch of peanut-like character I don't love, but that's my only complaint. This is definitely the way to do a brown ale.

Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Pancae head with good retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Chocolate and peat aromas. Soft with chocolate, soy and licorice upfront turning to deep cocoa before the lasting earthy twig finish. Nice.
