On tap at the Raven Cafe, Prescott, AZ. An attractive bright amber pour with a ring of white head; aroma of Belgian yeast; soft in the mouth with some estery fruit, yeast, biscuit and apricot kernels; then a smooth caramel finish. A rather good mellow saison.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Milwaukee. Clear golden, medium creamy tan head, fair retention. Aroma of strong yeast and spice, bready malt, grass, plum, bubblegum. The taste is yeast, bubblegum, spice, a bit of tart citrus. Medium bodied, lingering spice. Decent.

12oz bottle. Sort of thick, big, hefty, malty for the style. Really shares little similarity with classic Saisons other than that they both utilize Belgian yeast. Some light banana and bubblegum esters. Drinkable, smooth for the ABV. Doesn’t really nail the style but an OK beer overall.

Pours gold into a Sam glass. White head with excellent retention recedes leaving scant trailing sheets. Mild caramel and pepper aromas. Sweet hot caramel and dough front to back. Mild bitter saison yeast finish. Rather sweet and one-dimensional.

12oz bottle-disipating white-gold. A-spice/slight pepper, some sweet lt fruit, lt malt. T-spice/some pepper, sweet lt malt-honey. Slightly slick mouthfeel upfront and mid palate. Seems to crossovert (:-) with some tripel characteristics.

Bottle pour into shaker pint glass from Andover Liquors. Appearance is clear golden orange with nice sparkle, two-finger width off white foamy head with nice crackle, good retention and decent soapy lacing. Aroma is strong fruity esters, wheat, bubblegum, yeast. Taste is fruity esters, a bit of alcohol, mild bubblegum. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with creamy texture, average carbonation with finish as taste. Overall, not the most adventuresome of saisons but it checks off all the right boxes. Pretty nice.

Not a bad Saison from Sam Adams, boisterous and sparkly, hitting all the right notes even if it’s closer to legging out a single than smashing a home run. Nose gives off hay with hints of banana and clove, and the pour’s a pretty gold with a modest head and minor lacing. Taste starts somewhat sweet, bright honey and banana-clove wheat melding with a haystack earthiness. Grows sweeter as it warms yet never comes off as cloy, and the mild floral bitterness on the finish adds a bit of balance to the finish.

Bottle from Bert’s Pours a brilliantly clear deep golden color with a thin bubbly white head that dissipates quickly. Light spice and pepper on the nose with bits of sweet bread and light banana. Flavor follows the aroma. Lightly sweet with a medium body. Clean tasty beer, but for the style I was expecting a bit more dryness and spirited carbonation
