It’s a nod to a traditional Saison beer that would have been aged longer during the winter months. Fragrant, with tropical aromas of guava, it brings a taste of resin and kumquats. Super hazy pale golden coloured body with a super light straw coloured glow and a ridiculously large, ugly-laced off-white head. Aroma of grass, hay, yeast, coriander seed, light spice, minor hops and a smooth and light funkiness. Medium-bodied; Assertive spicey and grassy quality up front with a good dose of hops and tropical fruits right behind. Aftertaste shows a barnyardie funk that goes nicely along with the yeast, coriander seed freshness and a bit of the herbal elements from both the malt and hops. Overall, a nice and very complex saison that shows the typical characteristics well and a few niceties like tropical fruits from hops and a light sour/funk note that is reminiscent of a real french biere de garde. I sampled this split 37,5 cL corked/caged bottle purchased from Zupan’s Market in Portland, Oregon (Burnside Ave) on 02-May-2015 for US$5,99 (bottled on 04 02 15) sampled at home in Washington on 04-September-2015.

375 mL corked bottle poured. Bottled only a couple weeks ago, which is always nice. Pours a cloudy yellowish color with a swirling white foam head. Big lemon citrua, belgian yeast aroma. Flavor comes off as heavy belgian to me as well, with a lot if citrus flavor bite. Juicy orange flavor late in the palate. Tasty saison for sure. Good stuff.

Bottle, awesome label. Pours a cloudy orange color with a large white head. A big fruity estery yeast nose. Lemons, dry malty base, big yeast, banana, light pepper and lemongrass. Solid. Very drinkable.

Tap at pFriem, Hood River, 24/05/13. Clear pale blonde with a thin white head. Nose is lemon rind, grass, herbs, bitter orange, spice. Taste comprises grass, light spice, lemon zest, orange pith, gooseberries, farmy, light funk. Medium bodied, dine carbonation, crisp finish. A very good saison, hits all the right notes for this style!

Draught. Cloudy orange pour. Very restained, almost too restrained spicy aroma. Flavour is spice, something that seems like waterbloemmatjie though I was assured there were no water hawthorns in the beer. Spicy finish
