Creamy off white head on a copper coloured body. Malt, caramel, toffee & woody tastes with a bitterly hopped finish. A bit harsh.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 6/12/2024. Pale amber in colour, with a slight, white, head. Digestive malts, some hedgerow fruits, leafy hops, leading to a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Hand-pulled pint in The Catherine Wheel (Henley on Thames), 3rd December 2024. Clear, but slightly grubby look; amber/copper in colour, white head that stayed a while. Mini-spiced nose and initial taste, malty and earthy, some berry like flavours too. It's too watery though, it has no body depth for a traditional Christmas beer.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] An amber pour with a tight white head; fruity aroma; malty taste with some berries; and a biscuity finish with a light fruity bitterness. A so-so Christmas ale.

On cask at the Walter Scott. Appearance - amber and clear. Creamy white head. Nose - dried orange, barley water and brown bread. Taste - more of the same. Palate - medium bodied, dry and slightly astringent finish. Overall - decent if a bit twiggy.

Cask @ Milan Bar, Croydon. Golden with a creamy-frothy head. It has a sweetened sugar based nose, but is lesser stated in taste. Very ordinary.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton Pours a golden amber with a small white head. Biscuits and malt in the nose. In the mouth it is creamy, and sweet with oranges dominating. Also a hint of cheese biscuits just to confuse things. Finish is dry and hoppy with oranges featuring plus a little “bitter lemon”. Pleasant enough but not at all Christmassy apart from the name.
