Rocky white head on slowly carbonating clear golden coloured body.
Butterscotch, malt & stone fruit aroma.
Medium bodied, soft over the tongue with sparkling back & cloying aft.
Grainy, pale malt, bready & stone fruit tastes with a bitter finish.
Quaffer.

On the day I'm drinking this beer in history, in 1852, the US opened its '2nd Mint' in San Francisco - to serve the California gold rush. I didn't rush this golden ale, nothing too notable about it but a pleasant sessionable and very traditional tasting bottle conditioned brew. Low bitterness. Familiar English style hoppiness.

Bottle from Home Bargains. Clear bright gold with thin white head. Aroma has a basic biscuit like malt with light earthiness and citrus. Taste has more to it - malts come through quite well with biscuit, caramel and a slight earthiness. Hops are mostly there to give a decent bitterness in the finish but there is some citrus and a floral to grassy bite. Slick light to medium body. A bit better than I was expecting.

Clear dark yellow colour with soapy head. It's got quite a lot of hop bitterness but is a touch skunky.

500ml bottle from a local 'Home Bargains' store: BB 21st March 2025. Drank and home with Robert my cousin on 14th May 2024. Clean and clear golden body, white head. Cheap supermarket beer feel to this, slight citrus lead, weak malty base, light bitterness in the finish.

[50cl bottle from Home Bargains, Bracknell.] A pale amber pour with a fast fading white head and light carbonation; subdued citrus aroma; light biscuity malt body with some citrus and a leafy bitterness; then a malty finish with some earthy caramel. Unexciting.
