A session bitter based loosely on an 1800's recipe and brewed originally for the Tolpuddle Pilgrims. As a nod towards the transportation of the Tolpuddle Martyrs to Australia I have included a whole heap of Australian hops for additional flavour and aroma. A fruity and floral aroma is enhanced by coffee malt flavours and a long bitter finish. A refreshing drink for a weary pilgrim!

Bottle on holiday in Lyme Regis. Hazy orange - amber beer, thin white head. Palate is fairly smooth and has reasonable fine carbonation. Light malts, touch of creamy sweetness. Ripe orange peel bitterness. Traces of tangerine and grapefruit. Light semi dry finish. Mild bitter linger. Nice intensity to the hop fruits here. Well joined up and drinkable.

On gravity at the Maltings beer festival, Newton Abbot 17/4/2015. Deep gold in colour, with a slight, white, head. Big citrus hop character, balancing biscuity malts, some sweet fruits and a dry finish. Enjoyable.

Gravity cask at Cambridge Winter Ales Festival 2015. Dark gold to light brown. Cloudy. Very lively head for a gravity cask! Light aroma of orchard fruit, malt, a bit of jasmine and candy sugar. Malt-led taste, bittersweet with coriander and watercress notes. Exceptionally bitter aftertaste, especially in light of the gentleness of the initial taste. Full palette with exceptional carbonation. Reasonable but not particularly memorable.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 23rd September 2014. Very hazy amber with yellowy white foam. Floral hop and yeast touches in aroma. Grapefruit and grassy bitterness in-mouth. Finish becomes bitter especially when small sips are sloshed around in the mouth. Lemon peel late. Zingy mouthfeel and medium body. A fun pint.
