Each harvest season, we choose various barrels of our Farmstead® ales that exhibit sympathetic characteristics for pairing with local fruit varieties. On occasion, a single selection speaks to an ideal projection of a fruit’s seasonal expression; other times, fruits may mingle best with a curated selection of barrels.
This blend was aged between 28 and 32 months in wine barrels and then conditioned further on a blend of Siberian pears and a few local varieties of desert pears—Stacy, Luscious, Summercrisp, and Nova—all organically grown by Elmore Roots Nursery in nearby Elmore, Vt. It is a delicate, expressive representation of Vermont’s summer and the annual autumn harvest.

375mL bottle at Beer Temple, pours a mostly clear golden with a sam white head. Aroma brings out plenty of tart pears, rustic saison yeast, and subtle oak. Flavour is smooth, with rustic saison yeast, subtle pears, light acidity, and some oak. Rustic, fruity, and well-balanced. Excellent.

Bottle thanks to William. Pours a hazy yellow gold with medium white head that lasts. The aroma is pear, mineral, floral, oak. Slick body, similar flavors to nose, balanced, nice tartness, enjoyed this.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from the brewery. Pours faintly hazed pale yellow with a modest, foamy white head. Lightly sweet with lovely tart pear, some lemony acidity, a little musty apple, low funk. Light bodied with spritzy, massaging carbonation. Quenching finish, more fresh and tart and lightly juicy pear character, refreshing acidity, a little bitter peel. Excellent.

Bottle from the source, wouldn't fit in my beer suitcase, sorry Zagreb group. Hazy pale yellow color, white coca cola head. Light pear and apple flesh aroma, light dust and white pepper. Taste is very softly sour pear, vanilla, very subtle lemon and mixed stonefruit. Reminds of a tasty proper British perry. Delicious.

375mL bottled Feb 10, 2022, drunk 7/29/23. Clear, bright marigold-hay-lemon. Small, white head, quickly to ring. Wow, funky brett, rustic grain and delectable pear all in lovely balance with mineral, light oak and low floral notes. Juicy, deep, balanced. Less oak and wine than usual, or maybe less overt. Very mellow, much moreso than the 2020 Harvest that I just had. Wow that is just sublime. Just the perfect mix of funk and fruit. Light oak dryness with hints of vanilla that bridge to rustic, biscuity malts and light white wine. More pear skin/tannin than actual juicy fruit in mouth. Very, very long mineral mixed with mellow Brett through the middle and lingering long on the finish. Soft, dry, but not thin. Unlike some of the entries in Harvest series, there's zero acetic and even the lactic acidity is unbelievably soft/mellow. This is just spectacular...only so much money you can spend at this place (and I already spend a lot) but wish I had bought more of these now.
