This beer is a real mouthful of Asian flavours all wrapped up in a smooth roasty porter. The cooling coconut and Kaffir Lime pair perfectly with eastern spices and cayenne heat to develop many layers of sensory awesomeness.

Bottle picked up from the Grunting Growler, Kelvingrove, Glasgow. Consumed at home Sunday 21st May 2017 Pours black with a tan head. Picking up a little chill type warmth initially but there is coconut (toasted?). This is soft and very drinkable the chilli is just right, is there some ginger or galangal I wonder? This is a good beer, it’s no world beater but it’s good, you start to pick up a little dark chocolate bounty bar. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Black body with a thin tan head. Faint lacing. Aroma of toasted coconut, basil and creamy chocolate. Flavour of chilli pepper and dark chocolate. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. I found it a little too spicy but interesting.

Keg at Mason and Company. A dark brown coloured pour with lasting mid tan head. Aroma is unusual mix of toasted coconut, sun tan lotion, perfume rose petals, ginger, vanilla, pina colada,. Flavour is composed creamy toasted malts, coconut, oily, tingling spices, hint of chilli. Palate is full rounded, moderate carbonation, oily. Mellow chilli heat. Really unusual but well put together.

Third, draught at BrewDog Castlegate. Fawn-coloured head to a jet black body. Spotty lacing. Smell of earth and black malts. Taste character includes moments of coffee, wood, and chocolate with a lingering chili touch to the finish. So and so (19.04.2016).

Keg at CASC. It pours jet black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich roasted malts, fragrant, liquorice, spice, umami, charred wood and dark chocolate. The taste is bitter, dark roasted malts, warming spice (but not overdone), dark chocolate, liquorice, light perfume, cacao nibs, chilli heat, definite Thai green curry character, charred wood, touch of acidity and coffee with a dry, spiced finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Good depth of flavour and importantly balance. Very well executed.
