Bottle pour with membership group. Opaque black with nice, quickly fading head and trace lacing. Aroma is malt quickly overwhelmed by Mezcal, tart fruit. Taste is strong peat, wood, mezcal. Smooth, somewhat thin, soft carbonation, finish as taste. Not loving the mezcal treatment and base is buried. Not a fave.

500 ml bottle. 2023 vintage bottle # 112/969. Aroma has a spice, roasted malt, and ash. Flavor is ashy and spicy. Really thin body and texture. Yikes, very unlike Barreled Souls as a whole!

Bottled 3/28/23, #112/696, drunk 6/1/24. Clear, auburn-mahogany. Tan head quickly to partial cover. Vegetal, floral, funky, mezcal, low smoke. Rich chocolate and salinity. It's an odd mix of the agave and then dark stout notes. Interesting for sure. Not boozey. Oh wow that's weird. Bitter, floral, peppery, salty. All that would be fine but for the severely lacking body/texture. Paper thin, very drying. No depth. Very un-barreled souls-like. Pass.
3/28/23 112/696 aroma is light smoke, mezcal. Taste is thin, needs more body, definitely not in my wheelhouse. Meh.
