Containing apples grown at Tree House Farm & Fermentory, À Travers La Mer is then conditioned in tawny port barrels with a pitch of Brett Lambicus. The resulting cider is deeply complex with notes of hay, red wine, funk and crisp apples. Enjoy this with a sharp cheddar and enjoy cider bliss.

375mL bottle undated (2023), drunk 11/22/24. Clear, very pale with very light brass shades. Nose is quite mellow with an undercurrent of a lot going on. Good juiciness, plentiful Brett, low lactic. Not getting much, if any barrel, just a smidge of tannin and oak. Wouldn't pick out port blind. No weird stuff and no big acidity. In the mouth it's equally mellow, flavorful, with chewy tannin from barrel and apple skin. Lightly juicy, nicely attenuated with a good malo-lactic tartness on the finish. Very restrained and tasteful.

Bottle from my Secret Santa! Mojito glass @home. Opaque, thin, weak flash of soda head, no bottle bomb. Twangy cider nose. More floral than fruity port barrel, slightly tropical. I remember the last Travers cider being a touch tamer. Taste is Plum-y, mildly astringent & somewhat floral, less cider vinegar in this bottle but it starts to build. Apples have just a bit of their original dessert crispness. High acid, low tart, medium high sharpness, better carbonation, lingering tannic popsicle stick dryness on the tail. Liked!
