Aster is the 9th beer in our 2022 Flower Series! We brewed this Double IPA with a nod to this beautiful flower's Latin meaning of 'star', utilizing Northern Star Pilsner malt base and a hop combination of Galaxy, Comet, and Strata. Enjoy this beer while it lasts - it's out of this world!

Brewery draught, 11/14/24. Heavily hazy, maize-golden. Small, white head, slowly to spotty cover. Sweaty, spicy, lots of white wine and gooseberry. Starts to get sprucey from the Galaxy but the succulent malt balances. Strata never really shows up. Juicy, spicy, piney with sprucey dryness but succulent, deep malts and great attenuation. Interesting pineapple and sweat, but ultimately, the Galaxy kind of ruins it, since Galaxy sucks these days. Still an incredibly well made beer.

16 oz can. Aroma is soft honey and moderate citrus fruits. The flavor has a good balance between malt and hop ratio with just a little bit of citrus peel bitterness. Certainly well-made, but nothing extraordinary. Perhaps I’m getting completely burnt out on the style.
