A collaboration with Sheffield-based legends Abbeydale Brewery. Both breweries aim to blend heritage with modern brewing. As such, we picked a classic style and put our twist on it. An interpretation of an American barley wine. Amber in colour with well-balanced flavours of caramel, toffee and fruit.

Can. Light haze on this orange amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, slightly soft and slightly thin for the style. Decent fine carbonation. Light malts, a light creamy sweetness. Caramel? Just a trace. Fairly bright orange mixed in with smooth orange and soft orange peel. Tangerine kick. Touch of spice on the fluffy finish. Not the most complex of Barleywines but its tasty and easy drinking. Good name as well. Will the riff ever come back? Well all fashions are circular but until people get past the soulless soul and the gangster infused dross, I won't hold my breath.

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 23/01/21. Slightly murky orange amber with an off white cap. Nose is caramel, sugars, light booze, stewed fruits, prunes. Taste comprises caramel, fruit cake, boozey tunes, sugar melt, dates, sticky toffee pudding. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost and a touch of hops. Decent straight up barley wine that drinks easy for the double digit ABV.

17/1/2021. Can sample courtesy of SHIG, cheers. Pours thick murky dark orange gold with a small frothy white head. Aroma of mango, pineapple, peach, toffee, biscuit. Medium plus sweetness, light bitterness. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Interesting style twist, good though wasn't completely sold on it.

Can: Poured a murky orange brown with a bubble tan head. Aroma is hoppy with some strong fruits. Taste is bitter hops forward, loads of fruit, caramel malts, mellows towards the end, but still boosty.
