One day, brewer Magnus came to work with a bag of candy. A licorice/sour apple candy to be precise. Handing pieces out to whomever wanted it. David wanted it, so he took a piece. Then he took another one. Then, another one. He was completely hooked. A seed had planted itself in his head. And, the idea just grew and grew. It grew so big, it grew into this beer. David had to make it. We had to make it. A black, sour beer that tastes of licorice and apples might be taking it to far. But, sometimes you need to go to far in order to see how far you can go. And honestly, we’ve not gotten far enough yet.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity spicy weak sour apple aroma. Fruity sour apple and licorice flavor. Has a fruity sour apple and licorice finish.

If you like licorice and apple, this must be perfect for you. Otherwise it is no good idea to buy it. It had a surprisingly dominant apple and licorice flavor as announced. It did match better than feared. But not really my kind of flavor.

From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black with white foam, minimal. Aroma is not strong, giving some sour apple and licorice, coherently with the beer recipe. Body is light, with quite some astringency. Taste is sour. Finish is short.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark brown pour with a frothy tan head, aroma has sour apple, taste has sour apple, hints of liquorice, Dugges beers are quite expensive wish there was a VFM slide.

Flaska från ICA Möllan, Malmö. Tack Samuel 214. Lite lakrits/lakritsrot i bakgrunden.
