Can from Malt & Vine. Pours dark copper with a beige head. Clean resin aroma. Med + body. Flavor is resin, and then it quickly turns to something bready? Like the basis for a graham cracker? Well, this is a bit unusual, but it works. Maybe there’s honey in honey malts? The flavors are pretty firm, the finish is pretty bitter, and the ? thing is at least interesting. Main thing is that it’s finishing bitter and hoppy. No a weak drink, flavor wise.

On tap at Boundary Bay, pours a deep dark murky amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out dry bready caramel malt and light resinous hops. Flavour is very well-balanced, with notes of dry bready caramel malt and pungent resinous hops. Nothing subtle about this. Very well-balanced and a pleasure to drink even if a bit harsh. Good stuff.

Draught at the brewpub
Dark amber to mahogany color with compact beige head. The aroma is a bit yeasty, footy, with resiny hops. Good body strength; caramelly brew, with moderate residual sweetness, good hop resins, a bit piney and fruity; overall it’s a good blend of flavors.

Thanks go out to Terry for this can.
Red is in the name and red, by golly, is the colour of this IPA. Good head of foam to start off with though it does shrink quickly. Lacing..yep.
I smell pine, I smell spicy hops, flowery, perhaps herbal.
Pine and spicy hops in the taste, bitter?, yes, but there’s a smoothness of the bitter going on here. Maybe there’s an underlining balancing act coming into play from the malt; I can’t detect it but something has to account for it.
The mouth feel is pretty darned awesome.
Yikes, my glass is nearly empty. I really enjoyed drinking this Red IPA.

Cloudy, thin head, a lot of c hop stuff, grapefruit and florals and an abundant crystal malt chewiness.
